The City and County of Honolulu will honor its top employees at the Annual Employees Recognition Program on Thursday, September 25, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., at the Neal Blaisdell Concert Hall.

Twenty-four employees have been nominated for Employee of the Year and 10 for Manager of the Year. 

Mayor Mufi Hannemann said, “These exceptional employees and managers are being recognized as role models and examples of the outstanding caliber of service, leadership, and dedication demonstrated by City workers throughout the year.  I’m very proud to serve with such a terrific team.” 

The public is invited to attend.  Entertainment will be provided by the Royal Hawaiian Band and Glee Club, featuring Misty Kelai and Karen Keawehawaii.

            The mayor will also present awards to the City’s outstanding attorneys.  The Outstanding Deputy Corporation Counsel and Deputy Prosecuting Attorney awards recognize non-civil service employees for outstanding accomplishments and excellence in City service.  This year’s recipients are Deputy Corporation Counsel Kathleen A. Kelly and Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Loren J. Thomas.

Employee of the Year honorees are Board of Water Supply, Marlene T. Komori and Alan W. Sugahara; Budget and Fiscal Services, Rosalynn L. E. Bee; City Clerk’s Office, Allyson K. Hong; Community Services, Clayton Han; Customer Services, James W. Sakaguchi; Design and Construction, Allyn Y. S. Lee; Enterprise Services, Dwight O. Tateishi; Environmental Services, Polecarpio H.R. Anaya and John “Jack” R. Pobuk; Facility Maintenance, Dallas A. Cabinatan and Larry W. Collas; Emergency Services, Alan W. L. Young; Fire, Shelby Lynn Furukawa and Robert J. Main; Police, Gerald J. Scoville, Jr.; Human Resources, Angelica D. Santiago; Information Technology, Karen N. Loui; Medical Examiner, Pamela A. Cadiente; Parks and Recreation, Bert S. Koide and Gary H. M. Loo; Planning and Permitting, Larry M. Watanabe; Royal Hawaiian Band, Eric W. Y. Kop; and Transportation Services, Mark B. Au.

            Manager of the Year honorees are: Board of Water Supply, Warren K.W. Young; Budget and Fiscal Services, Gary T. Kurokawa; Community Services, Rolanse S.K.L. Crisafulli; Enterprise Services, John C. Fuhrmann; Environmental Services, Lorita M. Kahikina-Moniz; Fire, Emmit A. Kane; Police, Delbert T. Tatsuyama; Human Resources, Karen S. Peterson; Information Technology, Ralph M. Yasuhara; and Parks and Recreation, Wilfred M.Y. Ho, Jr..

City employees who have reached the milestones of 25, 35, 45, and 50 years of service will be honored. 

Four employees will receive Exceptional Achievement awards and Emergency Services Water Safety Officer Bouvey K. Bradbury will receive the City’s Valor Award.
