          The Department of Transportation Services (DTS) today announced it is distributing a new information brochure containing facts about Honolulu’s proposed rail transit system.


          “The 8-page brochure is part of our ongoing effort to engage the public and inform residents about the project. It answers the community’s most frequently asked questions with accurate information,” said DTS Director Wayne Yoshioka.


The brochure will initially be distributed at the City’s booth at the Food and New Product Show at the Neal S. Blaisdell Exhibition Hall this weekend and online at the rail project’s website, In addition, the brochure will be distributed at the City’s upcoming rail transit community meetings from October 14 to 23, in state libraries and Satellite City Halls, and as an insert in the Honolulu Advertiser and Honolulu Star-Bulletin newspapers on Sunday, October 19 and in the October 22 edition of MidWeek.


          Portions of the brochure will be in notices in the daily newspapers beginning next week and will be included in educational radio spots. Residents, businesses and local organizations can request a brochure by calling the rail project hotline at 566-2299.
