NEW INFORMATION CENTER OPENS AT REVAMPED SATELLITE CITY HALL

Mayor Mufi Hannemann today unveiled the City’s first Information Center, a unique facility set up at the newly renovated Ala Moana Center Satellite City Hall.

Housed in the area formally occupied by the City Store that closed in December 2007, the Information Center features a new information kiosk that allows customers to complete and print forms needed for motor vehicle transactions. Attractive information panels display the exact forms and requirements needed for basic transactions, such as driver licensing and motor vehicle registration renewals, duplicates and ownership transfers. The Information Center also provides free route maps and other important details about TheBus, the City’s award-winning public transportation system.

“Our goal is always to be customer-friendly, and we know our customers’ time is very valuable, so the new Information Center is designed to help people complete their transactions quickly and easily,” Mayor Hannemann said today at a dedication ceremony for the facility.

This year marks the 35th anniversary of the City’s Satellite City Hall program. The Ala Moana satellite opened in 1988 and was the first to offer full-service motor vehicle operations. More than 130,000 transactions were completed at this location last year, making it the City’s busiest Satellite City Hall.

The cost of the renovation project was approximately $40,000. Much of the project was designed and planned in-house by the City’s Design and Construction, Facility Maintenance and Transportation Services departments. The computer and programming of the new information kiosk were supplied by the Department of Information Technology.  Project contractors include Richard Reese Designs for graphic design; Fleetstreet Graphics for production and installation; Ultimate Interiors for flooring; Classic Plastic for bus brochure racks; Alexander Brothers Ltd. for the kiosk; and Raymond’s Painting for interior decorating.
