MOKULEIA BEACH PARK TO BE CLOSED AT NIGHT

Mokuleia Beach Park will be closed from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. daily, beginning June 16, following the recent demolition of a deteriorated restroom facility and recommendations for night closure by the North Shore Neighborhood Board and the City’s Parks Board.

The restroom facility was demolished in April because it had deteriorated to the point of becoming a safety hazard.  A replacement facility is being planned, but construction is not expected to begin for some time, said Les Chang, director of the Department of Parks and Recreation. Portable toilets are available for daytime park users in the meantime, he said.

The park’s shoreline will remain accessible to night fishermen during the closure hours.
