REAL PROPERTY ASSESSMENT NOTIFICATION

Oahu property owners will soon have the opportunity to receive their real property assessment notices by email.

The City and County of Honolulu today announced that, effective immediately, property owners may elect to register online to receive their real property assessment notices by email.

Beginning December 15, 2008, eligible homeowners will be able to file their home exemption claims online for the 2010-2011 tax year and beyond.  Property owners will also be able to file an appeal online to the Board of Review for the 2009-2010 tax year, beginning December 15, 2008, to January 15, 2009.

Mayor Mufi Hannemann said, “This is another example of the City using its technology capabilities to improve the delivery of important information to the public and streamline the way we do business, as we’ve successfully done with motor vehicle registration renewals, certain types of building permits, and other requirements.  And we’ll continue to seek new ways to harness the Internet to make our operations more efficient.”
