ROAD WORK WEEKLY REPORT

 

Scheduled road work for the week beginning March 2, 2008, for the Department of Design construction, Civil Division (Construction Management Branch), and Wastewater Division (Construction Management Branch) is listed below.  Road work is normally done between the hours of 8:30 AM and 3:30 PM unless otherwise noted.

 

AIEA

Newtown Neighborhood – Kaahele Street Improvements, Vicinity of Komo Mai Drive to Moanalua Road.  Work includes adding left turn pockets, pavement markings, and signs.  Change order work has been completed.  Additional extra work may be added.

            (Estimated completion date, March 2008)

 

Reconstruction of Concrete Sidewalks – Halawa Area:  Work includes:  removal and reconstruction of damaged concrete sidewalk, curb and gutter areas; trimming of trees and cutting and removal of tree roots where the roots have damaged the areas; installing root barriers where required; and adjustment of utility boxes to new sidewalk grades.

            (Estimated completion date, August 2008)

 

HONOLULU

Rehabilitation of Alewa Drive from Wyllie Street to Hoomaikai Street; work includes removal of existing asphalt concrete and Portland cement concrete pavements, roadway reconstruction with asphalt concrete pavement, reconstruction of existing asphalt concrete berms and concrete gutters, adjustment of utility manhole frames and covers, and installation of pavement markings, and other incidental related work.

            (Estimated completion date, October 2008)

 

Curb ramps at Alexander Street/S. Beretania Street, Isenberg Street/S. Beretania Street, Kaheka Street/Kanunu Stree, Kaheka Street/Makaloa Street, Kalauokalani Way/Makaloa Street, Punahou Street/S. King Street, S. Beretania Street/Keeaumoku Street/Piikoi Street, Kinau Street/Victoria Street, S. Beretania Street/Pensacola Street/Victoria Street, S. Beretania Street/Victoria Street, S. Beretania Street/Ward Avenue, Coyne Street/University Avenue, Dole Street/East-West Road, Dole Street/University Avenue, Kahuna Lane/South King Street, University Avenue/Varsity Place, and Pawaina Street/Paumaka Place:  Construct new curb ramps, sidewalks and AC transition.  Install pavement striping, markings and markers, upgrade traffic signal system.

            (Estimated completion date, March 2008)

 

Rehabilitation of Beretania Street from N. King St. to Alapai St.  Night work:  Roadway paving from Queen Emma Street to North King Street.  Adjust existing manhole frame and covers Alapai Street to Nuuanu Avenue.  Permanent striping work Alapai Street to Queen Emma Street.  Traffic loop detectors Alapai Street to Queen Emma Street.

            (Estimated completion date, April 2008)

 

Rehabilitation of Campbell Avenue from Kapahulu Avenue to Collins Street, Diamond Head Road from Trousseau Street to Makapuu Avenue, 4th Avenue from Waialae Avenue to Harding Avenue, Onipaa Street, Waimanu Avenue.

            (Estimated completion date, April 2008)

 

Resurfacing of a Portion of Dillingham Boulevard, Waiakamilo Road to Middle Street.  Adjusting utilities to grade; installation of pavement markings and vehicle loop detectors.

Fort St. Mall & Hotel Street Sewer Replacement/Rehabilitation:  Sewer line replacement and CIPP work along Hotel Street between Bethel Street and Bishop Street.

Curb Ramps at Various Locations, FY 2005(3) – Hausten Street/South King Street, Kalakaua Avenue/Kapiolani Boulevard, Hoonanea Street/ Metcalf Street, Campus Road/Metcalf Street/University Avenue, Waialae Avenue/Wihelmina Rise/ 12th Avenue/Alohea Avenue, Alohea Avenue/Wela Street, Alohea Avenue/Edna Street, Mikihana Street/Mooheau Avenue, Francis Street/Upper Street, George Street/Upper Street, Hayden Street/Upper Street, Date Street/Kamoku Street/Kapiolani Boulevard, Young Street/Kaheka Street, 14th Avenue (A)/Waialae Avenue, 14th Avenue (B)/Waialae Avenue, and Elizabeth Street/Waialae Avenue:  Construct new curb ramps, sidewalks and AC transition.  Install pavement striping, markings and markers, upgrade traffic signal system.

Curb Ramps at Various Locations, FY 2004(3) – Kapiolani Boulevard & Paani Street, Kapiolani Boulevard & Wiliwili Street, Kapiolani Boulevard & Pumehana Street, Kaaha Street & University Avenue, Kalakaua Avenue & Young Street, Kalakaua Avenue & South King Street, Kalakaua Avenue & Philip Street, Kalakaua Avenue & South Beretania Street, Pensacola Street & Nehoa Street, Pensacola Street & Karratti Lane, Pensacola Street & Davenport Street, Pensacola Street & Hassinger Street, Pensacola Street & Kinau Street, Pensacola Street & South Beretania Street, Pensacola Street & Young Street, Pensacola Street & Alohi Way, Pensacola Street & Elm Street, Pensacola Street & Rycroft Street, Pensacola Street & Hoolai Street, Pensacola Street & Kaimaile Street:  Construct new curb ramps, sidewalks and AC transition.  Install pavement striping, markings and markers.  Upgrade the traffic signal systems.

            (Estimated completion date, March 2008)

 

Rehabilitation of Keeaumoku Street between Kapiolani Boulevard to Kinau Street; Rycroft Street from Kaheka Street to Sheridan; Sheridan Street between Kapiolani Boulevard to South King Street; South Street from Ala Moana Boulevard to South King Street; University Avenue between Coyne Street to Hihiwai Street.  Reconstruction of concrete curbs and gutters, and new bus pads.  Reconstruction and resurfacing of asphalt pavements.  Adjusting manhole to finish grade, installation of vehicle loop detectors, and permanent pavement markings.  Paving of Keeaumoku Street, Rycroft Street and Sheridan Street complete; installing pavement markings and loop detectors; adjusting manhole to grade.  Night paving of University Avenue complete and will be switching to daytime paving February 25, 2008.  Night paving of South Street on-going; limits to be extended up to Beretania Street.

            (Estimated completion date, April 2008)

 

Rehabilitation of Kilauea Avenue from Hunakai Street (Mauka of H-1) to 18th Avenue.  The work includes the reconstruction and resurfacing of the above street; construction of concrete bus pads; curb ramps and associated traffic signal improvements; reconstruction of curbs, gutters and driveways; installation of pavement markings, adjustment of utility covers to grade; tree trimming and root pruning.

            (Estimated completion date, January 2009)

 

Sand Island Basin Miscellaneous Sewer Rehabilitation:  Continue replacement of sewer manhole frame and covers and manhole rehabilitation in various locations.  Rehabilitation of the Ward Avenue sewer tunnel, Sand Island Access Road sewerline, Ala Moana Park sewerline, Moanalua sewerline and Nuuanu sewerline are forthcoming.

            (Estimated completion date, March 2008)

 

KANEOHE

Kawa Ditch Improvements:  Naumanu Place & Nakuluai Street, Kaneohe:  Removal existing trapezoidal concrete drain channel lining and reconstruction of new concrete rectangular channel.

MANOA

Rehabilitation of Streets, Unit 50 – Kalawao Place (Kalawao St to end), Kalawao Street (Kahaloa Drive to private road), Kalehua Street (Kahaloa Dr to end), Kaloaluiki Street ( Lowrey Ave to Kalawao St), Kanu Street (Lowery Ave to Loi St), Loi Street (East Manoa Rd to Woodlawn Dr), Kahawai Street (Lowrey Ave to Huapala St), Woodlawn Drive (Lowrey Ave to Kahaloa St), Lowrey Avenue (Woodlawn Dr to Kalawao St), Kaaipu Avenue (Oahu Ave to end), Loomis Street (Mauka end to Makai end), Hiehie Street (Kaloaluiki St to end) and Vista Place (Lowrey Ave to end).  Work includes reconstruction and resurfacing of the above roadways; reconstruction of curbs, gutters, sidewalks and driveways; tree removal, pruning and trimming; installation of pavement markings

            (Estimated completion date, November 2008)

 

MILILANI

Reconstruction of Concrete Sidewalks, Mililani Area, Fiscal Year 2005-2006:  Work includes removal and reconstruction of damaged concrete sidewalk, curb and gutter areas; trimming of trees and cutting, removal of tree roots where the roots have damaged the areas; installing root barriers where required, and adjustment of utility boxes to new sidewalk grades, and other incidental related work.

NIU VALLEY

Niu Valley WWPS Force Main Reconstruction:  Restoration of the median in Kalaniana’ole Highway between Kawaikui Park and Niu Valley Shopping Center.

PEARL CITY

Localized Rehabilitation of Streets, Phase 2, Various Streets (Manana & Momilani):  Work includes cold planing; resurfacing of asphalt concrete pavements; reconstruction of failed asphalt concrete pavement areas; adjustment of utility manhole frame and covers; installation of pavement markings; and locating existing manholes, valve boxes, monuments, etc.

            (Estimated completion date, March 2008)

 

WAIPAHU

Waikele Road Improvements:  Work includes widening of Waikele Road and addition of curb and sidewalk fronting Waipahu Intermediate School, from Farrington Highway to Waipahu Flood Control Channel; adjustment of manholes, and boxes on the roadway being widened.

            (Estimated completion date, March 2008)
