REGISTRATION OPEN FOR CITYíS 2009 TOUR DE TRASH

 

      The City is accepting registrations for the 11th annual Tour de Trash.  The award-winning event presents six tours this year, sponsored by the Department of Environmental Services.

 

Tour de Trash Schedule

Tour 1:  Workplace Recycling I (Thurs., Jan. 15, 2009, 8:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m.; start-finish Sheraton Waikiki);
Tour 2:  Wastewater Treatment (Thurs., March 19, 2009, 8:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m.; start-finish Kapolei Hale);
Tour 3:  Recycled Products (Thurs., May 21, 2009, 8:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m.; start-finish Kapolei Hale);
Tour 4:  Construction and Demolition (Thurs., July 16, 2009, 8:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m.; start-finish Kapolei Hale);
Tour 5:  Recycling and Waste Processors (Thurs., Oct. 22, 2009, 8:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m.; start-finish Kapolei Hale);
Tour 6:  Workplace Recycling II (Thurs., Nov. 19, 2009, 8:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m.; start-finish Sheraton Waikiki).

*Note:  Participants must show up 15-20 minutes before scheduled tour departure time.

 

      All six tours are free to the public on a space-available basis.  Tours are usually filled weeks in advance of its scheduled date.  Each tour includes round trip site-to-site bus transportation but does not include lunch or parking.  The bus stops in a lunch-friendly area.  Participants should anticipate spending $5 to $15 for lunch or may opt to brown bag it.  Parking fees at departure sites range from free to $3.

      Tour de Trash is an award-winning educational program recognized for outstanding achievement by the U.S. Conference of Mayors.
