Waikele River bridge closed both directions at Waipahu Street

The Department of Emergency Management in conjunction with the City Departments of Transportation Services and Facility Maintenance have temporarily closed vehicular access in both directions at the Waikele River bridge on Waipahu Street. 

Heavy rains earlier in the day have damaged and eroded parts of the bridge and as a precaution the area is closed for the time being until City crews can initiate a complete inspection beginning tomorrow.  The bridge will be closed for an indefinite period of time.

Barricades as well as signage directing drivers to detours have been put in place.
