Waimanalo Keiki Water Festival October 8

The City’s Storm Water Quality Branch of the Department of Environmental Services is co-sponsoring the third annual Keiki Water Festival in Waimanalo on Wednesday, October 8.  The event is free to the public and runs from 8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Waimanalo Elementary and Intermediate School.

The festival educates children to be good stewards of natural areas and water resources and provides valuable tips for conserving water and protecting the environment.  Participants will learn the value of this critical resource, while providing the tools for a solid foundation to continue clean water habits into adulthood.  Participating agencies and organizations provide educational and outreach activities that foster water conservation and protection, water health and safety, water education and water stewardship.

Co-sponsoring along with the City is the Polluted Runoff Program of the Hawaii Department of Health.  Other agencies involved with the event are the Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources Division of Aquatic Resources, Division of Forestry and Wildlife; Department of Agriculture Pesticides Branch; Honolulu Board of Water Supply; Hawaii Department of Transportation Highways Division, National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration Marine Debris Program and National Weather Service; and the U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service.
