MAYOR INVITES ALL TO CENTRAL OAHU CARNIVAL
(Friday, July 17, 2009) - Mayor Mufi Hannemann today invited everyone to visit the Second Annual Central Oahu Carnival, a benefit for the Armed Services YMCA and their Wounded Warrior and Fallen Hero Fund.
The Carnival, produced by E.K. Fernandez Shows and supported by the City, will be held today through Sunday at Central Oahu Regional Park. The carnival will include a traditional midway, military displays, and a circus thrill show featuring a flying trapeze act.
On Saturday, complimentary wristbands providing free access to all carnival rides will be presented to families of qualified deployed military personnel and to wounded warriors, along with free hotdogs and sodas.
Hannemann said it is very important to remember our troops abroad and to recognize the tremendous sacrifices they and their families are making.
Invitations have been sent to the Wounded Warrior Detachment Hawaii, the Warrior Assistance Center, and the Blue Star Card program at Schofield Barracks.
The Carnival will open to the public at 6 pm tonight (Friday, July 17) and noon on Saturday and Sunday (July 18 and 19). Closing times will be late tonight and Saturday, and 10 pm Sunday. Admission and parking are free. Wristbands for unlimited rides will be sold on the carnival grounds for $20 and are good from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday or 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday.
