Hazardous Materials incident outdoor siren warning group to be tested today at 11:45 a.m.

The Department of Emergency Management in conjunction with the Campbell Local Emergency Action Network (CLEAN) will be testing the Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) Incident outdoor siren warning group for the Campbell Industrial Park today at 11:45 a.m.  The group consists of seven sirens located at Campbell Industrial Park (2), Honokai Hale (1), Makakilo (1), Kapolei Regional Park (1), Kapolei Golf Course (1) and the Coast Guard Station at Kalaeloa (1) and is capable of emitting a whooping tone which will be activated in the event of a hazardous materials incident requiring emergency notification of businesses, schools and residents within the vicinity of Campbell Industrial Park. 

The HAZMAT siren group test will occur immediately following the monthly Oahu outdoor warning siren test scheduled for 11:45 A.M. today. 

During an actual HAZMAT emergency requiring alert and notification of the local community the siren sounding would be coordinated with emergency information broadcast over TV and radio via the Emergency Alert System.  Not all incidents would require activation of the HAZMAT siren group and the Emergency Alert System.

During the test, businesses, residents and schools from Honokai Hale to Makakilo, Kapolei, Kalaeloa and the Campbell Industrial Park complex will hear a whooping tone immediately following the regular monthly siren test tone.
