SUNDAY IS BIKE TO THE ZOO DAY

The City and County of Honolulu has announced that Sunday, May 17, is Bike to the Zoo Day.  Anyone who rides a bicycle to the Honolulu Zoo will get in free.  There will also be free valet bicycle parking available.

The event is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a free prize drawing at 11 a.m.

The first 200 bicyclists will receive a free tote bag with goodies such as blinkers, safety materials, and a bike map.  The City is sponsoring this event to encourage people to ride bicycles for short trips instead of driving.

Mayor Mufi Hannemann said, “The bicycle is the perfect vehicle for shorter trips.  We hope this fun, free event will help people realize the potential of the bicycle as a vehicle for these types of shorter, utilitarian trips around town.”
