CITY LAUNCHES PUBLIC AUCTION WEBSITE  FOR SURPLUS ITEMS

(Monday, October 26, 2009)—Bargain hunters can now shop on the City’s public auction website, which lists property that is no longer practical for official use. Current items range from garbage trucks to cameras and computers.

“We are delighted to provide this simple and economical service that allows everyone to participate,” said Mayor Mufi Hannemann. “It is quick, easy and cost-effective.”

The City’s Department of Budget and Fiscal Services is streamlining the process for reducing its inventory of surplus equipment and supplies by utilizing the Vendor Self Service website, and no longer conducts live public auctions or auctions by sealed bids.
