FINAL PREPARATIONS FOR THE START OF CURBSIDE RECYCLING The City’s Department of Environmental Service is delivering the last of the recycling carts to homes in the next phase of its curbside recycling program. Approximately 40,000 homes in Waimanalo, The City expects all carts to be delivered before the start date. Currently, the contractor is delivering blue carts in Pearl City, Communities that used blue carts for green waste the past several years are advised to put those blue carts out for green waste collection service before the end of April to get them emptied. This will facilitate the transition to the new system when blue carts will be exclusively used for mixed recyclables. This affects homes in Waimanalo, Instructional brochures are attached to the recycling carts at delivery. Residents are advised to look inside the cart. Additional information is posted online at www.opala.org or call the City’s recycling office at 768-3200 for assistance. -30- Contact: Suzanne Jones, ENV Recycling Coordinator, 768-3420 Markus Owens, ENV Public Communications Officer, 768-345 |
