CITY TO BEGIN EXPANSION OF (August 5, 2009) – Mayor Hannemann said, “We’re very proud to announce this project, which will provide much-needed recreational facilities to a rapidly growing part of Kurt Fevella, chairman of the Ewa Neighborhood Board, added, “This is welcome news. We’ve been looking forward to having more park facilities in Ewa, especially a gym and play courts, and we’re grateful to Mayor Hannemann and the City Council for their support. These facilities will give our young people and the entire community a gathering place for their sports and recreation activities.” Construction will include a 10,440-square-foot gymnasium, multi-purpose building, two basketball courts, four tennis courts, two volleyball courts, lighting for all courts, accessible walkways, a 235-stall parking lot with lighting, and irrigation. Project cost will be $8.3 million. Construction will begin in early 2010 and be completed in late 2011. The design consultant is Yamasato Fujiwara Higa & Associates.
