GREEN WASTE CARTS START ARRIVING TOMORROW FOR SECOND PHASE

 

The City’s Department of Environmental Services begins delivery of recycling carts Tuesday, March 3, in preparation for the second expansion phase of the island-wide curbside recycling initiative, which begins the week of May 4.

Residents in these second phase areas will begin receiving green carts:

·       Waipio Gentry, Pearl City to Halawa (March 3-16);

·       Wahiawa, Whitmore, Waikalani and Launani Valley (March 17-23);

·       Kaneohe, Haiku, Ahuimanu and Kaneohe Bay Drive (March 24-April 3); and

·       Waimanalo (April 6-8).

Blue carts will be distributed to residents in the Waipio Gentry, Pearl City to Halawa communities April 9-24.

Schaefer Systems International manufactured the carts and subcontracted Royal Hawaiian Movers to provide local distribution to approximately 40,000 homes.

Informational material will be attached to carts with additional program guidance posted online at www.opala.org.
