MAYOR WELCOMES ALL TO NEW
Mayor Mufi Hannemann will host an open house and welcome the community to the new City-managed satellite one-stop employment center in Hauula on Friday, March 13, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.
“In these tough economic times, we are making every effort to help people get good jobs,” Mayor Mufi Hannemann said. “We are reaching out to Koolauloa coast communities such as Hauula, Laie and Kahuku, to make sure job-seekers can learn about opportunities that are available.”
The Oahu WorkLinks center, established by the WorkHawaii Division of the Department of Community Services, helps job-seekers identify their career strengths and employment options, prepare resumes and connect with employers. These services are provided at no cost to job-seekers.
The center is open to the public three days a week: on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except on holidays. The phone number is 293-2626.
The center is staffed by an employment consultant who can assist with career planning, skill assessments, and resume preparation. Job-seekers can discover their career strengths and employment options with user-friendly software programs, and register in the HireNet Hawaii virtual job bank. The job bank provides access to employment opportunities 24 hours a day, with a search engine that includes job openings from newspaper postings, corporate and government job boards. Job seekers are able to create and post resumes online, and the HireNet Hawaii virtual recruiter will automatically search for suitable resumes and match them to job openings.
Oahu WorkLinks is operated by a consortium of government and non-profit agencies comprising of the City, the State Department of Labor & Industrial Relations, Honolulu Community Action Program and ALU LIKE. With eight full-service and satellite one-stop employment centers located island-wide, Oahu WorkLinks takes a community-based approach to employment and training services.
