GREASE, RAGS CAUSE SANITARY SEWER OVERFLOW IN HONOKAI HALECrews from the city’s Department of Environmental Services responded to a sanitary sewer overflow this evening in Honokai Hale. ENV received a call at 6:25 p.m., arrived on the scene at 7:35 p.m., and secured the site at 10:00 p.m. Grease and rags backed up an 8-inch vitrified clay pipe (VCP) and out a manhole fronting 92-731 Paakai Street. An estimated 2,000 gallons reached a dry canal where it dissipated, not reaching a body of water. ENV notified the state Department of Health. Warning signs, sampling and monitoring to follow. -30- Contact: Markus Owens, ENV Public Communications Officer, 768-3454 |
