Friday, May 29, 2009—Mayor Mufi Hannemann today announced the grand opening of the Honolulu Farmers’ Market, to be held Wednesday, June 3, from 4 pm. to 7 p.m. at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center, corner of Kapiolani Blvd. and Ward Ave.


            “I’ve long been a strong supporter of our farmers,” Mayor Hannemann said. “And I believe this new Farmers’ Market venture will prove to be popular with our residents and visitors alike.”


            The Honolulu Farmers’ Market will continue every Wednesday, featuring fresh locally grown fruits and vegetables, delicious food, orchids and plants, tropical cut flowers, local fruit preserves and much more.


            The grand opening celebration will also incorporate the City’s third annual “Ag in the City” event, in which Oahu’s agricultural industry is showcased.


            The market is sponsored by Mayor Hannemann, the Hawaii Farm Bureau Federation, the Mayor’s Office of Economic Development, the Department of Enterprise Services, and Oahu Resource Conservation and Development, Inc.
