The 3rd Annual Keiki Water Festival, sponsored by the City & County of Honolulu’s Department of Environmental Services, is Wednesday, May 6, from 8:30 a.m. to noon, at the Salt Lake Elementary School.

“This is a unique opportunity for residents to forge a strong link between proper care and management of our water resources to improve our quality of life,” said Mayor Mufi Hannemann.  “The Keiki Water Festival continues to offer a meaningful and unparalleled learning experience.  The festival’s creative approach provides a fun way to teach our young citizens about an important issue.”

More than 225 fourth and fifth grade students, teachers, elected officials and volunteers are partnering with water resource agencies to become more aware of the relationship among water, community and themselves.  The festival teaches concepts to use in their daily routine to strengthen relationships by protecting and conserving water.

If interested in participating, please meet at the Salt Lake Elementary School playground.  For more information, go to
