MAYOR HANNEMANN INVITES PUBLIC TO ANNUAL PRAYER SERVICE

The public is cordially invited to attend the Mayor’s Annual Year’s Prayer Service tomorrow (Wednesday, Jan. 7) evening at historic Kawaiahao Church, followed by a reception in the Honolulu Hale courtyard, Mayor Mufi Hannemann said.

The non-denominational service will begin at 6:30 p.m., and donations of canned goods for the needy are requested.

Mayor Hannemann and First Lady Gail Mukaihata Hannemann will be joined by members of the mayor’s Cabinet and senior staff at this fifth annual service. The event will feature several local pastors who will lead the congregation in prayer and reflection. Choirs and choral groups will sing hymns and spiritual songs.

“We will face significant challenges this year, but we have much to be thankful for,” Mayor Hannemann said. “This is a chance for people to come together as a community to give thanks, and to pray for our city and for each other as we head into a new year. Those who’ve attended in the past have expressed their warm appreciation for this event.”
