To cap an exciting two weeks of football fever, Mayor Mufi Hannemann is inviting the public to an exciting event on Monday that will honor several NFL stars with local roots.

Mayor Hannemann is especially proud to welcome home Kahuku High School graduates Chris Kemoeatu of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Aaron Francisco of the Arizona Cardinals, the first two players to our knowledge in NFL history who graduated from the same high school in the same class and were starters on opposing teams in the Super Bowl.

“Football is a big part of our lifestyle and culture here, and we’re very pleased to have the opportunity to honor these athletes who created history for Hawaii and the NFL,” Mayor Hannemann said.  “We want to honor them and their families, and to honor other NFL stars.  This is also the perfect way to close out ProBowl week in Hawaii.”

In addition to Kemoeatu and Francisco, NFL players and alumni who will attend include Samson Satele of the Miami Dolphins, former San Francisco 49ers lineman Jesse Sapolu, Former Steelers running back Chris Fuamatu-Maafala, and former Denver Bronco Maa Tanuvasa.

The event will take place Monday, February 9, at the Windward Mall Center Court from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm.

“This will be a great opportunity for local fans to meet and greet some of their favorite players,” said Mayor Hannemann.

The musical group Vaihi will provide entertainment.  Local radio personalities Billy V and Lina Girl will emcee.
