Palama Adopt-A-Block/Stream Cleanup May 30

The City’s Storm Water Quality Branch of the Department of Environmental Services is holding an Adopt-A-Block/Stream cleanup Saturday, May 30, in Palama.

The cleanup runs from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. covering Pua Lane, Kanoa and Banyan streets, Akepo Lane, Palama Street to Vineyard Boulevard, Kapalama Stream (from North King Street to Dillingham Boulevard) and Iwilei.

ENV – partnering with numerous agencies, businesses, churches and public officials – will provide supplies, educational materials and T-shirts.  Volunteers check in at the tent on the corner of Kanoa and Banyan and should wear a hat, old shoes, sunscreen and dress to get dirty.

The event creates awareness of non-point source pollution and water quality issues; provides information on protecting our waters to specific audiences; encourages partnerships between citizens and local government; and motivates positive behavioral change to keep streams healthy.
