repaving slated for kailua streets

            Mayor Mufi Hannemann has announced that the City will rehabilitate seven streets in Kailua, beginning early next month.

The roads include Kuuala Street, Kuupua Street, Kuukama Street, Kuuhale Street, Kuuhoa Place, Kuumele Place, and Kuuniu Street.

In the near future Oneawa Street, Maluniu Street, Kainalu Drive, and the makai portion of  Kuulei Road from Kainalu Drive will also be rehabilitated.

Mayor Hannemann said, “This is another example of the City’s commitment to investing in our public infrastructure.  We’re spending on much-needed sewer repairs, many of which are in Kailua, improvements to parks and public facilities, and repaving, along with the day-to-day operations of City government.

“We’re grateful for the patience of residents during the road construction.”

The work will include cold-planing of the old pavement, resurfacing, reconstruction of weakened areas, and pavement markings.  The project will cost $842,000.  Completion is targeted for November.
