ROAD WORK WEEKLY REPORT

 

Scheduled road work for the week beginning May 24, 2009, for the Department of Design construction, Civil Division (Construction Management Branch), and Wastewater Division (Construction Management Branch) is listed below.  Road work is normally done between the hours of 8:30 AM and 3:30 PM unless otherwise noted.

 

AIEA

Kaamilo Ditch Repair:  Work includes demolishing and removing existing rock walls, trees; constructing new reinforced concrete channel; installing new 4-0 chain link fence.

            (Estimated completion date, May 2009)

 

HALAWA

Aliipoe Ditch Reconstruction Halawa Heights, Lalawai Drive and Kahema Place area:  Demolish, remove and reconstruct existing concrete drainage ditch.  Construct maintenance access ramp and driveway.  Install storm drain manholes, drain inlets, trench drain, and 18 drain pipes.  Install new chain link fence.

HAUULA

Curb Ramps at Various Locations, FY 2007 Kawaihemo Pl./Kawaipuna St.:  Construction of new curb ramps, sidewalks and A.C. transition.  Installation of pavement striping, markings and markers.

HAWAII KAI

Curb Ramps at Various Locations, FY 2006 Koamano Rd./Lunalilo Home Rd., Kalanipuu St./Lunalilo Home Rd., Waioli St./Hawaii Kai Dr., Hawaii Kai Dr./Lunalilo Home Rd.:  Construction of new curb ramps, sidewalks and A.C. transition.  Installation of pedestrian push buttons, traffic signal pull boxes and vehicle detector loops.  Installation of pavement striping, markings and markers.

Curb Ramps at Various Locations, FY 2007 Lunalilo Home Rd. (Koko Head Elementray School Driveway):  Construction of new curb ramps, sidewalks and A.C. transition.  Installation of pavement striping, markings and markers.

HONOLULU

Rehabilitation of Alewa Drive from Wyllie Street to Hoomaikai Street: Work includes removal of existing asphalt concrete and Portland cement concrete pavements, roadway reconstruction with asphalt concrete pavement, reconstruction of existing asphalt concrete berms and concrete gutters, adjustment of utility manhole frames and covers, and installation of pavement markings, and other incidental related work.

Curb Ramps at Various Locations, FY 2008(A) Haupu Pl./N. School St., 2476 N. School St., Allder St./S. King St., Queen St. Midblock, and Mooheau St./Paliuli St.:  Construction of new curb ramps, sidewalks and A.C. transition.  Installation of pavement striping, markings and markers.

            (Estimated completion date, May 2009)

 

Kalihi Nuuanu Area Sewer Rehabilitation Phase 1G and 1I:  New sewer line and manhole installation on Liliha Street (between Maui Street and Hawaii Street), Kuakini Street (between Nuuanu Avenue and Pali Highway).  Lane closures Monday thru Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

            (Estimated completion date, May 2009)

 

Kalihi Nuuanu Area Sewer Rehabilitation Phase 1E:  New sewer line and manhole installation on Vinyard Blvd., Malanai Lane, School Street and Stillman Lane.  Lane closures Monday thru Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

            (Estimated completion date, May 2009)

 

Kapiolani Area Revised Sewer System Improvements:  New sewer line, CIPP lining, and manhole installation on Kalauokalani, Kona Street, Atkinson Drive, and Ala Moana Blvd.  Sewerwork is ongoing on Kalauokalani.  One lane will be closed Monday thru Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

            (Estimated completion date, May 2009)

 

Rehabilitation of Street, Unit 38 Kilauea Avenue from Hunakai Street (Mauka of H-1) to 18th Avenue.  The work includes the reconstruction and resurfacing of the above street; construction of concrete bus pads; curb ramps and associated traffic signal improvements; reconstruction of curbs, gutters and driveways; installation of pavement markings, adjustment of utility covers to grade; tree trimming and root pruning.

            (Estimated completion date, May 2009)

 

Kuliouou Sewer Rehabilitation:  Installation of cured in place pipe (CIPP), manhole rehabilitation, lateral rehabilitation, and some new installation of sewer lines.  CIPP installation work at Paeoki Street, Wakine Street, Kuliouou Road, Bay Street, Summer Street, Kalanianaole Highway, and May Way.

            (Estimated completion date, May 2009)

 

Curb Ramps at Various Locations, FY 2006 Mapu Ln./Liliha St., University Ave./S. King St., Kaimuki Ave. Mid Block: Construction of new curb ramps, sidewalks and A.C. transition.  Installation of pedestrian push buttons and traffic signal pull boxes.  Installation of pavement striping, markings and markers.

            (Estimated completion date, September 2009)

 

Nuhelewai Stream Improvements:  Project includes demolishing and removing existing rock walls and trees; constructing new concrete channels, retaining walls and grouted rubble paved work; installing 6-foot-high chain link fence; and installing permanent erosion control.

            (Estimated completion date, May 2009)

 

Rehabilitation of Various Streets on Oahu:  The southbound Pali Highway on-ramp will be closed intermittently between 8:30 a.m. 3:30 p.m.  One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained during the reconstruction work.  Work on Pauoa Road is complete. Work on Hihimanu Street is complete.  Work is expected to begin on Awaiolimu Street on May 21, 2009.  Completion is scheduled for June 19, 2009, weather permitting.

Saint Louis Heights Sewer Rehabilitation:  Installation of cured in place pipe (CIPP), manhole rehabilitation, and lateral rehabilitation throughout Saint Louis Heights.  The contractor will also install new sewer lines via pipe bursting at 3 locations along Saint Louis Drive and one easement location between Saint Louis Drive and Frank Street.

            (Estimated completion date, December 2009)

 

Peterson Lane and Pua Lane Sewer Rehabilitation:  New sewer line and manhole installation on King Street (between Dillingham Blvd. and Peterson Lane), Pua Lane and Peterson Lane.  Sewerwork is ongoing on Pua Lane.  Repaving of King, Peterson and Pua lane to follow after sewer work is complete.  Pua Lane One lane in mauka bound direction will be closed Monday thru Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Curb Ramps at Various Locations, FY 2007 Waiakamilo Rd. between Moonui St. & McNeil St., Momolio St./N. School St., Aipaako St./Kuakini St., Ekekela Pl./Liliha St., Ekekela Pl./Keolewa Pl., Auahi St./South St., Hinano St./Leahi Ave., Ahe St. between Ahe Pl. & Kiwaila St., East Hind Dr./Papai St., East Hind Dr./Opihi St., East Hind Dr./Nehu Pl., East Hind Dr./Limu Pl., Kiholo St./West Hind Dr.:  Construction of new curb ramps, sidewalks and A.C. transition.  Installation of pavement striping, markings and markers.

Sewer rehabilitation on various streets on Wilhelmina Rise.  Installation of cured in place pipe (CIPP), lateral rehailitation, and replacement of sewer lines by open trench.

            (Estimated completion date November 2010)

 

KAILUA

Rehabilitation of Streets, Unit 46 Kailua Road (Hamakua Bridge to Kuulei Road); and Kuulei Road (Kailua Road to Kainalu Drive):  Reconstruct curbs, gutters, sidewalks and roadway pavement; construct new curb ramps and concrete bus pads; resurface roadway, reinstall signage, replace vehicle detector loops and install permanent pavement markings.

            (Estimated completion date, December 2009)

 

Kailua Road Sewers Improvement District No. 276:  Installation of new sewer line along Kailua Road between Hahani Street and Aoloa Road.

Kalaheo Avenue/Mokapu Road/Aikahi Loop Sewer Rehabilitation

            (Estimated completion date, December 2009)

 

Rehabilitation of Streets, Unit 63 Kuukama Street (Kalaheo Ave. to End), Kuuala Street (Kuukama St. to end), Kuumele Place, Kuuhale Street (Kuuala St. to Kainalu Dr.), Kuuniu Street ( Kalaheo Ave. to Kuuala St.), Kuupua Street (Kuuala St. to Kainalu Dr.) and Kuuhoa Place:  Tentative Notice to Proceed of May 11, 2009.  Mill and resurface roadway surfaces; reconstruct speed humps; replace pavement markings; and adjust utility manholes to new pavement grade.

            (Estimated completion date, November 2009)

Maunawili Bridge 2 Over Kamakalepo Stream, Bridge No. 444:  Guard and bicycle rail installation problem:  Kaikor chipping concrete deck topping to allow alignment of guard & bicycle rails.

Curb Ramps at Various Locations, FY 2007 Paopua Lp./Wanaao Rd., Paopua Lp./Paopua Pl., Pamaele St./Paopua Lp., Paopua Lp./Wanaao Rd./Palawiki St., Akumu St. (WWS driveway), Akamai St./Akumu St.:  Construction of new curb ramps, sidewalks and A.C. transition.  Installation of pavement striping, markings and markers.

Wanaao Road/Keolu Drive Reconstructed Sewer:  Installation of new sewer line along Wanaao Road between Hahani Street and Aoloa Road.

KANEOHE

Curb Ramps at Various Locations, FY 2008(A) 46-270 Kahuhipa St.: Construction of new curb ramps, sidewalks and A.C. transition.  Installation of pavement striping, markings and markers.

            (Estimated completion date, May 2009)

 

Kaneohe Bay Drive Trunk Sewer Reconstruction:  Installation of new sewer lines, new manholes, and cured in place pipe (CIPP).  Work will occur on Kaneohe Bay Drive between Mokapu Road and Kuono Place, Kaimalu Place and Way, Ikeanani Drive, and Kuakoa Place.

            (Estimated completion date December 2010)

 

Curb Ramps at Various Locations, FY 2006 Malulani St./Mimo Pl., Miha St./Malulani St.:  Construction of new curb ramps, sidewalks and A.C. transition.  Installation of pavement striping, markings and markers.

KAPOLEI

Ewa Villages, Extension of Kapolei Parkway, Phase 8C (Renton Road to Kolowaka Street)  Work includes Civil, Structural, Electrical and Landscape work to complete the extension of Kapolei Parkway from Renton Road to Kolowaka Street.

            (Estimated completion date, May 2009)

 

Extension of Kapolei Parkway, Phase 8B (North-South Road to Renton Road):  Clearing, grubbing and mass grading for construction of new 6-lane wide roadway with bike lane, raised median strips, sewer, water, drainage, street lighting and traffic signal systems, fences, sidewalks, curbs, gutters and subdrains, irrigation and landscaping, pavement markings and traffic signs.  Installation of erosion controls and dust fences throughout the project.  As of 4/2009, all work described above was substantially completed.  Punch list work is in progress

Renton Road Sewer and Manhole Rehabilitation: Trenching across Fort Barrette Road at Roosevelt Avenue.  One lane of traffic will be open during the trenching.  Steel plates will be put down after the trenching to allow normal traffic movement.  In March the contractor will restore the trench and repave.

            (Estimated completion date May 2009)

 

MAKAKILO

Curb Ramps at Various Locations, FY 2007 Anipeahi St./Anipeahi Pl./Ualahei St., Anipeahi St./Auwaea St.:  Construction of new curb ramps, sidewalks and A.C. transition.  Installation of pavement striping, markings and markers.

NUUANU

Seismic Retrofit Of City Bridges, Pelekane Drive Bridge Over Nuuanu Stream (Bridge No. 267)

Work involves installation of concrete shear keys, dowels for shear keys and girder strengthening for Pelekane Drive bridge.  Bridge repairs will be provided for the spalled areas along the girders, bottom of bridge slab and sidewalk, corroded rebars along the bridge bottom slab and shear cracks along the girders.  BMP measures and traffic controls will be installed.

PALOLO

Hihmanu Street Sidewalk Improvement:  Installation of sidewalks; curbs and gutters along the makai side of Hihimanu Street.  Also work includes constructing curb inlets, headwalls, retaining walls, steel pipe railings; adjusting manhole covers and fire hydrants; and reconstructing driveway aprons.
