October 8, 2009 Scheduled road work for the week beginning October 11, 2009, for the Department of Design construction, Civil Division (Construction Management Branch), and Wastewater Division (Construction Management Branch) is listed below. Road work is normally done between the hours of 8:30 AM and 3:30 PM unless otherwise noted. HALAWA Aliipoe Ditch Reconstruction – Halawa Heights, Lalawai Drive and Kahema Place area: Demolish, remove and reconstruct existing concrete drainage ditch. Construct maintenance access ramp and driveway. Install storm drain manholes, drain inlets, trench drain, and 18” drain pipes. Install new chain link fence. (Estimated completion date, October 2009) Rehabilitation of Secondary Streets at Pearl City – Ulune Street (Kahuapaani Street to Kulawea Street), Aiealani Place (Halawa Heights Road to end), Fernridge Place (Halawa Heights Road to end), Halawa Heights Road (Fernridge Place to Mauka end), Hele Mauna Place (Halawa Heights Road to end), Kaimakani Street (Moanalua Road to Ulune Street), Palaialii Place (Halawa Heights Road to end), and Palaialii Way (Palaialii Place to end): Cold planing, reconstructing, and resurfacing pavement. Reconstructing base at bus stops. Adjusting street monuments, utility manhole frames and covers, installing pavement markings, reconstructing existing asphalt concrete berms with drainage openings. (Estimated completion date, December 2009) HAUULA Curb Ramps at Various Locations, FY 2007 – Kawaihemo Pl./Kawaipuna (Estimated completion date, October 2009) HAWAII KAI Curb Ramps at Various Locations, FY 2008 (B) – (Estimated completion date, November 2009) Curb Ramps at Various Locations, FY 2006 – Koamano Rd./Lunalilo Home Rd., ramps, sidewalks and A.C. transition. Installation of pedestrian push buttons, traffic signal pull boxes and vehicle detector loops. Installation of pavement striping, markings and markers. (Estimated completion date, October 2009) Curb Ramps at Various Locations, FY 2007 – Lunalilo Home Rd. (Koko Head Elementray School Driveway): Construction of new curb ramps, sidewalks and A.C. transition. Installation of pavement striping, markings and markers. (Estimated completion date, October 2009) HONOLULU Curb Ramps at Various Locations, FY 2008 (B) – (Estimated completion date, November 2009) Rehabilitation of Alewa Drive from Wyllie Street to Hoomaikai Street: Work includes removal of existing asphalt concrete and Portland cement concrete pavements, roadway reconstruction with asphalt concrete pavement, reconstruction of existing asphalt concrete berms and concrete gutters, adjustment of utility manhole frames and covers, and installation of pavement markings, and other incidental related work. (Estimated completion date, October 2009) Iolani Avenue Retaining Wall: Construction of new CRM fence wall and installation of soil nail tie backs and reinforced shotecrete facing on retaining wall at 625 Iolani Avenue fronting Dole Community Garden. Restore A.C. sidewalk fronting new CRM wall. Remove existing trees and re-plant new trees in Dole Community Garden. (Estimated completion date, May 2010) Kalihi Nuuanu Area Sewer Rehabilitation Phase 1A and 1C: New sewer line and manhole installation on Mokauea Street, Kalani Street and Kino Street. Lane closures Monday thru Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (Estimated completion date, October 2009) Kalihi Nuuanu Area Sewer Rehabilitation Phase 1B: New sewer line and manhole installation on Kopke Street. (Estimated completion date, December 2009) Kalihi Nuuanu Area Sewer Rehabilitation Phase 1D: New sewer line and manhole installation on Captain Cook and (Estimated completion date, December 2009) Kalihi Nuuanu Area Sewer Rehabilitation Phase 1E: New sewer line and manhole installation on Vineyard Blvd. Lane closures Monday thru Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (Estimated completion date, October 2009) Kalihi Nuuanu Area Sewer Rehabilitation Phase 1G and 1I: New sewer line and manhole installation on Kuakini Street (between Nuuanu Avenue and Pali Highway) is ongoing. Lane closures Monday thru Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (Estimated completion date, October 2009) Kapiolani Area Revised Sewer System Improvements: New sewer line, CIPP lining, and manhole installation on Kona Street, Atkinson Drive, Ala Moana Blvd, Piikoi Street, and Kamkee Street remain. Sewerwork is ongoing on Kona Street (night work). Kona Street will be closed, open to local traffic Sunday thru Thursday, 9 pm to 5 am. (Estimated completion date, October 2009) Kuliouou Sewer Rehabilitation: Installation of cured in place pipe (CIPP), manhole rehabilitation, lateral rehabilitation, and some new installation of sewer lines. CIPP installation work at Summer Street and May Way. (Estimated completion date, October 2009) Curb Ramps at Various Locations, FY 2007 (X) – (Estimated completion date, October 2009) Reconstruction of Lusitana Street – From Pauoa Avenue to Iolani Avenue The work includes the reconstruction and resurfacing of the above street; construction of concrete bus landings; curb ramps and associated traffic signal improvements; reconstruction of curbs, gutters and driveways; installation of pavement markings, adjustment of utility covers to grade; tree trimming and root pruning. (Estimated completion date, October 2009) Curb Ramps at Various Locations, FY 2006 – Mapu Ln./Liliha (Estimated completion date, October 2009) Mapunapuna Industrial Subdivision Phase One of Tidal Flooding Remediation Program. Remove existing flap gates and install new check valves at outlet pipes in State channel fronting Kam Highway. Construct new DMH upstream of new check valves. Re-grade swale and adjust DI to provide positive drainage into existing drain system. Upgrade concrete wall at outlet pipes at State channel. Remove debris and sediment from existing storm drains and channel area. Dewater State channel and install temporary dewatering dams. At the intersection of Ahua Street and Awaawaloa Street, abandon existing storm drain on Ahua Street and install new storm drain MH on upstream end of abandoned pipe. (Estimated completion date, December 2009) Seismic Retrofit of City Bridges at Various Locations, FY 08 – Nehoa Street Bridge between Makiki St. and Anapuni St., and Lusitana Street Bridge between Ladd Ln. and Andrews Ln.: Installation of concrete and steel shear keys. Repair concrete spalls and cracks. Construction of concrete back wall. (Estimated completion date, August 2010) Emergency Repairs at Numana Road Bridge Over Kalihi Stream, Bridge No. 129: Partial removal of existing metal decking, AC topping, AC curbs, and signage from the bridge roadway surface. Installation of new metal decking, steel beams, steel bracing, concrete caps over abutments and center pier. Restoring AC pavement, curbs, transitions, and installation of pavement markings and signage. Bridge closed 24-hours from September 14, 2009 to November 13, 2009. (Estimated completion date, November 2009) Localized Rehabilitation of Streets, Phase 3, Nuuanu (Dowsett Highlands), Pacific Heights, Pauoa Valley, Moanalua Valley to west of Fort Shafter, Salt Lake towards Foster Village. The work includes: cold planing, resurfacing of asphalt concrete pavements, reconstruction of failed pavement areas; adjustment of manhole frame and covers, street survey frame and covers, installation of pavement markings; locating with GPS survey equipment manholes, valve boxes, monuments, etc. (Estimated Completion Date, January 2010) Rehabilitation of Various Streets on Oahu: The southbound Pali Highway on-ramp will be closed intermittently between 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained during the reconstruction work. Work on Pauoa Road is complete. Work on Auwaiolimu Street is approximately 80% complete. Completion is scheduled for June 26, 2009. Work on Nehoa Street will commence immediately after the completion of Auwaiolimu Street. (Estimated completion date, December 2008) Peterson Lane and Pua Lane Sewer Rehabilitation: New sewer line and manhole installation on King Street (between Dillingham Blvd. and Peterson Lane), Pua Lane and Peterson Lane. Sewerwork is ongoing on Pua Lane. Repaving of King, Peterson and Pua lane to follow after sewer work is complete. Pua Lane – One lane in mauka bound direction will be closed Monday thru Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (Estimated completion date, October 2009) Piikoi Street Drainline Reconnection – Fronting Hawaiiki Tower Driveway. The work includes excavation of the existing drain line, construction of a new drain manhole and the possible relocation of an existing 12-inch waterline. (Estimated completion date, February 2010) Saint Louis Heights Sewer Rehabilitation: Installation of cured in place pipe (CIPP), manhole rehabilitation, and lateral rehabilitation throughout Saint Louis Heights. The contractor will also install new sewer lines via pipe bursting at 3 locations along Saint Louis Drive and one easement location between Saint Louis Drive and Frank Street. (Estimated completion date, December 2009) Curb Ramps at Various Locations, FY 2007 – Waiakamilo Rd. between Moonui St. & McNeil St., Momolio St./N. School St., Aipaako St./Kuakini St., Ekekela Pl./Liliha St., Ekekela Pl./Keolewa Pl., Auahi St./South St., Hinano St./Leahi Ave., Ahe St. between Ahe Pl. & Kiwaila St., East Hind Dr./Papai St., East Hind Dr./Opihi St., East Hind Dr./Nehu Pl., East Hind Dr./Limu Pl., Kiholo St./West Hind Dr.: Construction of new curb ramps, sidewalks and A.C. transition. Installation of pavement striping, markings and markers. (Estimated completion date, October 2009) Sewer rehabilitation on various streets on Wilhelmina Rise. Installation of cured in place pipe (CIPP), lateral rehailitation, and replacement of sewer lines by open trench. (Estimated completion date November 2010) KAILUA Hele Ditch Emergency Repairs, (Estimated completion date, January 2010) Rehabilitation of Streets, Unit 46 – Kailua Road (Hamakua Bridge to Kuulei Road); and Kuulei Road (Kailua Road to Kainalu Drive): Reconstruct curbs, gutters, sidewalks and roadway pavement; construct new curb ramps and concrete bus pads; resurface roadway, reinstall signage, replace vehicle detector loops and install permanent pavement markings. (Estimated completion date, December 2009) Kalaheo Avenue/Mokapu Road/Aikahi Loop Sewer Rehabilitation (Estimated completion date, December 2009) Rehabilitation of Streets, Unit 52 – Keolu Drive (Kalanianaole Highway to Akahai Street); Keolu Drive (Akaakaawa Street to Wanaao Road). Cold planing; resurfacing and reconstruction of asphalt concrete pavements (ACP); adjustment of utility manhole frames and covers; installation of pavement markings and vehicle loop detectors; reconstruction of existing concrete curbs, gutters, sidewalks and driveways; reconstruction of concrete catch basins; and construction of concrete and asphaltic concrete bus pads. (Estimated completion date, February 2010) Rehabilitation of Streets, Unit 63 – Kuukama Street (Kalaheo Ave. to End), Kuuala Street (Kuukama St. to end), Kuumele Place, Kuuhale Street (Kuuala St. to Kainalu Dr.), Kuuniu Street ( Kalaheo Ave. to Kuuala St.), Kuupua Street (Kuuala St. to Kainalu Dr.) and Kuuhoa Place: Tentative Notice to Proceed of May 11, 2009. Mill and resurface roadway surfaces; reconstruct speed humps; replace pavement markings; and adjust utility manholes to new pavement grade. (Estimated completion date, November 2009) Curb Ramps at Various Locations, FY 2006 – Lunaai Pl./Lunaai (Estimated completion date, October 2009) Curb Ramps at Various Locations, FY 2007 – Paopua Lp./Wanaao Rd., (Estimated completion date, October 2009) Wanaao Road/Keolu Drive Reconstructed Sewer: Installation of new sewer line along Wanaao Road between Hahani Street and Aoloa Road. (Estimated completion date, April 2010) KANEOHE Emergency Landslide Remediation Adjacent to Burger King Kaneohe. Grubb and grade the slope at the corner of Likelike Highway and Kamehameha Highway and constructed a two (2) tier retaining wall with segmental concrete blocks. The work includes restoration of the access road, Burger Kings parking lot and landscape. (Estimated completion date November 2009) (Estimated completion date December 2010) Curb Ramps at Various Locations, FY 2006 – Malulani (Estimated completion date, October 2009) KAPOLEI Ewa Villages, Extension of Kapolei Parkway, Phase 8C (Renton Road to Kolowaka Street) Work includes Civil, Structural, Electrical and Landscape work to complete the extension of Kapolei Parkway from Renton Road to Kolowaka Street. (Estimated completion date, October 2009) Extension of Kapolei Parkway, Phase 8B (North-South Road to Renton Road): Clearing, grubbing and mass grading for construction of new 6-lane wide roadway with bike lane, raised median strips, sewer, water, drainage, street lighting and traffic signal systems, fences, sidewalks, curbs, gutters and subdrains, irrigation and landscaping, pavement markings and traffic signs. Installation of erosion controls and dust fences throughout the project. All work described above was substantially completed. Pre-final inspection with Federal, State and City agencies was conducted. Punchlist work completed. Final Inspection was conducted. One-year landscape maintenance period for street trees and grassing in progress. (Estimated completion date for landscape maintenance period, April 2010) MAKAKILO Curb Ramps at Various Locations, FY 2007 – Anipeahi St./Anipeahi Pl./Ualahei (Estimated completion date, October 2009) MANOA Rehabilitation of Streets, Unit 50 – Kalawao Place (Kalawao St to end), Kalawao Street (Kahaloa Drive to private road), Kalehua Street (Kahaloa Dr to end), Kaloaluiki Street ( Lowrey Ave to Kalawao St), Kanu Street (Lowery Ave to Loi St), Loi Street (East Manoa Rd to Woodlawn Dr), Kahawai Street (Lowrey Ave to Huapala St), Woodlawn Drive (Lowrey Ave to Kahaloa St), Lowrey Avenue (Woodlawn Dr to Kalawao St), Kaaipu Avenue (Oahu Ave to end), Loomis Street (Mauka end to Makai end), Hiehie Street (Kaloaluiki St to end) and Vista Place (Lowrey Ave to end): Work includes reconstruction and resurfacing of the above roadways; reconstruction of curbs, gutters, sidewalks and driveways; tree removal, pruning and trimming; installation of pavement markings. Reconstruct curbs, gutters, sidewalk and A.C. pavement. Repair spalled, delaminated and hollow sounding areas in bridge soffit, abutments and pier. Repair bridge parapet, metal railing and expansion and cold joints. Resurface asphalt roadways; install permanent pavement markings; restore vehicle loop detectors and raise manhole and valve covers to grade.
