Storm Drain Stenciling Training:  Get Ready For Earth Day!

The City’s Department of Environmental Services is offering free storm drain stenciling training during the periods of February 2-14 and August 3-15 for Earth Month in April and Make-A-Difference Month in October, respectively.

Stenciling storm drains is a popular, hands-on method done by students and volunteers to get the message out about our effect on streams and near shore waters.  Volunteers learn how to stencil storm drains with the message “Dump No Waste.”  This message educates the public that the careless disposal of trash, fertilizer or oil goes directly to our streams and the ocean and not to a treatment plant.

The 30-minute training session is free to the public on a space-available basis, between the hours of 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., at a work, home or school site.  Training provides information on program forms, stencils, supplies and reporting.

The City, supported by government and non-government agencies, are coordinating the effort.  To register, please log on to (click on contact us) or call 780-8872.
