PARTS OF ULEHAWA BEACH PARK TO BRIEFLY CLOSE FOR MAINTENANCE
(Friday, Oct. 2, 2009)—The Department of Parks and Recreation announced today that maintenance and repair work will be conducted at Ulehawa Beach Park in three phases over the next few months.
The first phase has been scheduled from November 1 to November 6. Phase 1 will require closure of the portion of Ulehawa Beach Park from Lualualei Depot Road to the canal from 10:00 p.m. Sunday, November 1 through 3:00 p.m. Friday, November 6 while the maintenance and repair work is performed. Phase 1 portion of Ulehawa Beach Park will reopen Friday, November 6, 2009 after 3:00 p.m.
Repair and maintenance work to be performed include:
- Repair and painting of picnic tables and park benches;
- Comprehensive landscape maintenance, inspection and pruning of trees where necessary;
- Repair of irrigation systems and other infrastructure.
After Phase 1 has been completed, Ulehawa Beach Park will be closed nightly from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Late night park closure is in response to numerous requests from community members. This action was supported by the Nanakuli/Maili Neighborhood Board and the Board of Parks and Recreation.
Phase 2 and Phase 3 maintenance and repair of other sections of Ulehawa Beach Park are planned for February through April 2010.
