(Thursday, December 10, 2009) -- Free concerts will commemorate the 25th Anniversary of Honolulu City Lights with entertainers on hand to fill the halls of the historic Mission Memorial Auditorium with holiday cheer on December 12 and 19.


            The Silver Jubilee Honolulu City Lights Christmas Concert Series begins on Saturday, December 12, with entertainment by Robi Kahakalau and special guests, the Performing Arts Academy Show Choir and Hiikua.  The performance on Saturday, December 19, features puppetry by Jeff Gere, the Keiki Palaka Band and Brother Noland.  Both shows include the humorous Al Waterson as emcee and run from 6 9 p.m.


Mayor Mufi Hannemann said, "Every year, I look forward to special holiday activities like the Honolulu City Lights Christmas Concert Series.  I appreciate the performers and musicians who help to make our 25th anniversary a magical experience for all in attendance.  I encourage everyone to enjoy the performances of these talented artists and the enchantment of our Silver Jubilee City Lights celebration."


The performances are free of charge and open to the public.  Families are encouraged to come to the auditorium as they stroll around the grounds looking at the exhibits and displays.  Mission Memorial Auditorium is the large red brick building between Honolulu Hale and Sky Gate.  For more information, contact the Department of Customer Service's Information Office at 768-4385.
