Bike to the Zoo Day

(Friday, May 14, 2010)  Mayor Mufi Hannemann announced today that Sunday, May 16th, is Bike to the Zoo Day.

Anyone who rides a bicycle to the Honolulu Zoo will get free admission.  There will also be free valet bicycle parking available.

Hannemann said, the City is providing the free event to promote bicycle riding and to encourage people to use their bikes for short trips instead of driving their cars.

“The bicycle is the perfect vehicle for shorter trips,” the Mayor said. “We hope this fun, free event will help people realize the potential of the bicycle as a vehicle for these kinds of shorter, utilitarian–type trips. Plus, bicyclists will get the added bonus of a free visit to our wonderful Honolulu Zoo.”

Bicyclists will also receive free goodies such as blinkers, safety materials, etc.

Bike to the Zoo Day runs from 9:00am to 2:00pm.  Bicyclists should enter from the Monsarrat Avenue gate.
