CITY TO CONDUCT SEARCH FOR HONOLULU ZOO DIRECTOR

(February 10, 2010) --- The City & County of Honolulu’s Director of the Department of Enterprise Services announced today that the City has begun a search for a Director of the Honolulu Zoo.

Sidney Quintal said the City will search for a new director following the resignation of Stephen Walker for personal reasons.

“We appreciate the outstanding service Mr. Walker provided to the City during the last year,” Quintal said.  “We thank him for helping to guide the Zoo through an exciting time, and we wish him well.”

The zoo’s assistant director, Tommy Higashino, will assume Walker’s responsibilities until a replacement is found.

Quintal said the City will consider applicants both locally and from across the country for the Zoo Director’s position.
