ISENBERG ADOPT-A-BLOCK CLEANUP APRIL 3

(Wednesday, March 31, 2010)The Department of Environmental Services’ Stormwater Quality Branch is conducting an Adopt-A-Block cleanup Saturday, April 3, in Moiliili.  The cleanup runs from 8:00-10:00 a.m. with check-in at the Old Stadium Park

ENV – partnering with the Pride of Moiliili, numerous agencies, businesses, churches and public officials – will provide supplies.  Volunteers should bring water, a hat, old shoes, sunscreen and dress to get dirty.  All participants must complete and turn in a release form, which can be downloaded at cleanwaterhonolulu.com/storm/hero/adopt.html.

The event creates awareness of non-point source pollution and water quality issues; provides information on protecting our waters to specific audiences; encourages partnerships between citizens and local government; and motivates positive behavioral change to keep streams healthy.

For more information on Adopt-A-Block/Stream activities, logon to www.cleanwaterhonolulu.com or call Iwalani Sato, Stormwater Community Relations Specialist, at 768-3248.
