(Tues., May 11, 2010)—Mayor Mufi Hannemann will welcome and address business experts and delegates from the mainland US, Hong Kong and mainland China at the Hawaii US-Hong Kong Business Forum on Friday May 14, 2010 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Tapa Ballroom.  They will be joined by local business, academic and government leaders in an informational forum about trade and investment opportunities.

Hawaii’s geographic location in the middle of the Pacific Ocean means that our state is strategically positioned to play a major intermediary role for economic dialogue between our two nations respectively” Mayor Hannemann said.  “More importantly, this forum brings leaders on both sides of the Pacific Rim into Hawaii. This helps to further reinforce the notion that we are the ‘Geneva of the Pacific,’ a place of mutual business exchange between the US and Asia.”

The event is presented by the Hong Kong Business Association of Hawaii (HKBAH) and its mainland affiliates, and is supported by the Mayor’s Office of Economic Development.

The event will highlight some of the best and brightest local, national and international experts on gaining access into the growing China market through the historic port city of Hong Kong.  The forum panelists will offer key insights on the China market, useful tips and strategies on how to enter and navigate it, and demonstrations on how Hawaii can capitalize on such opportunities.

The event will feature plenary sessions, breakout workshops focused on topics such as law, finance, real estate and informative speeches by key individuals from the US and Hong Kong.  For registration information, call HKBAH at 564-0011 or visit
