MAYOR HANNEMANN APPLAUDS SELECTION OF LEE DONOHUE TO FILL COUNCIL VACANCY

(Wed., June 9, 2010) --- Mayor Mufi Hannemann today praised the selection of former Honolulu Police Chief Lee Donohue to fill the vacant City Council District IV seat.

“Chief Donohue is an outstanding choice,” said Mayor Hannemann.  “The Council had a difficult choice to make, as there were several excellent candidates in the field, and I commend them on their selection.

“I’ve known Chief Donohue since the mid-1990’s when I myself served on the Council.  He’s always been active in the East Honolulu community, and his work with the youth of Hawaii, both in his community and outside, has been exemplary.

“Chief Donohue is very well versed on City issues, especially as they relate to public safety, and I know he will be a fair and independent voice representing his constituents in the district.”
