LEI NEEDED FOR MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONIES (Friday, May 7, 2010) --- Fifty thousand fresh lei are needed for placement on the graves of veterans at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl and at all state veterans’ cemeteries for Memorial Day. The lei are needed on Friday, May 28, and can be dropped off at designated community parks and fire stations on Oahu, and the Parks Permit Office at the The 61st annual Mayor’s Memorial Day Ceremony will be held on Monday, May 31, at 8:30 a.m. at the The public is asked to donate lei made with fresh flowers or ti leaves that measure 20 to 24 inches before tying. All lei must be tied. Floral sprays such as ti leaf and anthurium bouquets are also welcome. Lei may be dropped off at the following Oahu locations on Friday, May 28.
