Outdoor Warning Sirens to be tested tomorrow

(Wed., June 9, 2010) --- The City Department of Emergency Management in conjunction with Hawaii State Civil Defense will be testing outdoor siren warning systems in the following areas on Oahu tomorrow from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM.  The sirens are located at:

        Sunset Beach

        Upper Wahiawa

Mililani High School at the intersection of Meheula Pkwy and Kamehameha Hwy

The tests are being conducted to ensure that these sirens are operating at full power and providing optimal range.

Residents and businesses in the surrounding communities may hear several 20-second siren soundings during the testing period.

Hawaii State Civil Defense funds the purchase and installation of these sirens.  Once installed they are released to the City for monthly testing and emergency activation.
