Palama Adopt-A-Block/Stream Cleanup Saturday, June 26

(Thursday, June 24, 2010) – The Department of Environmental Services’ Storm Water Quality Branch is conducting an Adopt-A-Block cleanup Saturday, June 26, in Palama.

The cleanup runs from 8:30-10:30 a.m. covering numerous streets in the Palama area.  Check-in begins at 8:00 a.m. at the following locations:  Banyan Courtyard, HonBlue and Akepo Lane.

ENV – partnering with numerous agencies, businesses, churches and public officials – will provide supplies.  Volunteers should bring water, a hat, old shoes, sunscreen and dress to get dirty.

The event creates awareness of non-point source pollution and water quality issues; provides information on protecting our waters to specific audiences; encourages partnerships between citizens and local government; and motivates positive behavioral change to keep streams healthy.

Volunteers must sign a release form at check-in.  For more information on Adopt-A-Block/Stream activities or to download a release form, logon to or call Iwalani Sato, Storm Water Community Relations Specialist, at 768-3248.
