SANITARY SEWER OVERFLOW AT KUHIO PARK TERRACE

(Thursday, July 22, 2010) – The city’s Department of Environmental Services responded today to a sanitary sewer overflow at Kuhio Park Terrace.

The call came in at 10:45 a.m., an ENV crew arrived at 11:10 a.m. and secured the site at 12:55 p.m.

Rags and debris clogged an 8-inch terra cotta pipe at 1545 Linapuni Street sending 3,250 gallons of untreated sewage into Kalihi Stream, which leads to Keehi Lagoon.

ENV cleaned, disinfected and deodorized the area and notified the state Department of Health.  Signing and water sampling are underway.
