Siren to be tested tomorrow

The City Departments of Emergency Management and Facility Maintenance in conjunction with Hawaii State Civil Defense will be testing an outdoor warning siren located at Ala Wai Community Park (corner of Kapiolani Blvd. and McCully St.) on Thursday, April 29, 2010 from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM.  

The test is being conducted to ensure that the siren is operating at full power and providing optimal range. 

Residents and businesses in the surrounding communities may hear several 20-second siren soundings during the testing period.   

Hawaii State Civil Defense funds the purchase and installation of these sirens.  Once installed they are released to the City for monthly testing and emergency activation.
