TRAFFIC ALERT:  SEWER PROJECT WILL CLOSE PART OF WAIPAHU STREET

(Thur., Dec. 30, 2010) The Citys Department of Environmental Services announces that a portion of Waipahu Street will be closed to traffic starting January 3, 2011.

Waipahu Street, at the S curve between Awamoi Street and the exit of the Waipahu Cultural Center, will be closed between 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, with the exception of holidays and furlough Fridays.

The closure is necessary to complete work on the sewer lines as part of the Waipahu Street/Plantation Village Sewer Rehabilitation project.  The $1.6 million project is expected to be completed by the end of March 2011.

Detours will be set up to assist motorists in the area.
