CITY URGES IMMEDIATE WATER RESTRICTION AS PRECAUTION
(Sat., Feb. 27, 2010)—Acting Mayor Kirk Caldwell today strongly urged Oahu residents and visitors to immediately stop nonessential water usage as a precaution to help protect the island’s wastewater system, which could be affected by the tsunami expected shortly before noon today.
“Unless absolutely necessary, do not shower, flush toilets, wash dishes, wash clothes or otherwise send water into drains and the wastewater system until this event has concluded, even if you are located far from a tsunami inundation zone,” Caldwell said. “Please cooperate and restrict water usage to essential health, hydration and sanitary needs. Mahalo.”
