FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Aug. 12, 2010 ENV RESPONDS TO MANOA SSO(Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010) – The city’s Department of Environmental Services responded this evening to a sanitary sewer overflow in the Manoa area. The call came in at 5:40 p.m., an ENV crew arrived at the scene at 6:35 p.m. with the site secured at 7:00 p.m. A10-inch terra cotta pipe backed up as the cause of the spill is still under investigation. An estimated 2,400 gallons of untreated wastewater came out of manhole fronting ENV notified the state Department of Health. Signing and water sampling will begin in the morning.
