(Tue., April 13, 2011)The City and County of Honolulu Department of Parks and Recreation presents the 84th annual Lei Day Celebration on Sunday, May 1, 2011, at the Queen Kapiolani Park Bandstand from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.  This free event features the Coronation of Lei Queen Sandrina Lei Ilima Cabato De La Cruz and her court, First Lei Princess Haunani Judd Kauahi, and Princesses Linda Mae Ululani Chock, Wande Keanui Doane, Lorene Leimomi Erwin Hopkins and Carolyn Skip Kaonohilani Tomiyama. 


            Outstanding entertainment and Hawaiian music, including a steel guitar concert will be offered from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  The lei exhibit, from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m., features spectacular creations, and Tts Hale will be open from 1 to 5 p.m., presenting stories, songs, hula, lei making and lauhala weaving for keiki and their ohana.

            The lei day celebration is sponsored by Hawaiian Electric Company, Times Supermarket, and the Hawaii Tourism Authority, and is attended by thousands of visitors and residents each year.
