TRAFFIC ADVISORY:  SCHOOL STREET AND

NUUANU AVENUE  

(Mon., March 21, 2011) — City crews from the Department of Design and Construction  will begin emergency repair work tonight to repair damage to a 15-inch sewer break caused by a sink hole at the intersection of School Street and Nuuanu Avenue (ewa makai corner).  No wastewater left the damaged pipe.

            School Street will be closed at Nuuanu Avenue (near 7-11) around 6:30 p.m. or later if traffic is still heavy.  Message boards will be up at School/Nuuanu and Vineyard Boulevard advising motorists to detour to Vineyard Boulevard and to use Aala Street to get to the H-1 Westbound ramp.

            No right or left turns will be allowed from Nuuanu Avenue on to School Street.  Nuuanu Avenue will be open by 5:00 a.m. tomorrow morning, and concrete work and trench repair should be competed from 9:00 a.m.
