HPD SEEKING PUBLIC COMMENT FOR NATIONAL REACCREDITATION

A national accreditation team will accept public comments on the Honolulu Police Department’s (HPD) policies and procedures, administration, operations, and services on Wednesday, April 25, 2012.  The comments will be part of an on-site assessment conducted by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).

The public is invited to phone in comments or attend a public comment session on Wednesday, April 25.  Telephonic comments will be taken at 479-5675 from 3 to 5 p.m. The public comment session will begin at 6 p.m. at the HPD’s Career Conference Center, 715 South King Street, Room 500.  Limited street parking is available.

Persons wanting to submit written comments about the HPD may write to the CALEA at 13575 Heathcote Boulevard, Suite 32, Gainesville, Virginia, 22030-2215, or visit their Web site at www.calea.org.

Phone calls, appearances, and letters should address the HPD’s ability to comply with CALEA accreditation standards.  A copy of the standards is available at HPD’s Office of Accreditation at Alapai headquarters, 801 South Beretania Street, on Monday through Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
