MAYOR PROCLAIMS ‘HUNGER AND HOMELESSNESS AWARENESS WEEK’

(Thurs., Nov. 8, 2012)—Mayor Peter Carlisle today proclaimed November 11 through 17 as “Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week” in the City and County of Honolulu, in support of efforts to help educate the public about the many reasons people are hungry and homeless.

“The City and County of Honolulu recognizes that hunger and homelessness continue to be serious problems for many individuals and families in Hawaii,” Carlisle said. “I encourage citizens to participate in and support programs dedicated to assisting the needy.”

Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week is sponsored on Oahu by Partners In Care, in support of the National Coalition for the Homeless and National Student Campaign Against Hunger and Homelessness.

Carlisle applauded the efforts of Partners In Care and its member organizations to reduce hunger and homelessness.
