ENV RESPONDS TO PAUOA SSO

(Thur., Dec. 20, 2012) – The City’s Department of Environmental Services responded this morning to a sanitary sewer overflow in the Pauoa area.

The call came in at 8:08 a.m.  An ENV crew arrived at 8:40 a.m. and secured the site at 9:25 a.m.

Roots clogged an 8-inch terra cotta pipe at 2030 Pacific Heights Road causing an estimated 2,250 gallons of untreated wastewater out a manhole and into a storm drain discharging into Pauoa Stream near Ladd Lane, which leads to Honolulu Harbor.

ENV notified the state Department of Health.  City crews are placing warning signs and conducting water sampling.
