WINNERS ANNOUNCED FOR THE "KANIKAPILA KALIKIMAKA!" WREATH CONTEST
Organized by the Mayor's Office of Culture and Arts, the wreath contest awarded the top prize of $200 to the art class for most ingenious wreath creation. The patients at the Hawaii State Hospital Occupational Therapy Department Art Class, titled "Sweet Memories of the 70's Kanikapila Hawaiian Style!" uses color reproductions of vintage posters, T-shirts, and backstage passes from the 1970s Hawaii music and entertainment scene including the Brothers Cazimero, Kalapana, Country Comfort, Booga Booga, and the beloved Diamond Head Crater Festivals; also used are found and recycled materials like driftwood, pinecones, kukui nuts, coconut husks, seed pods, shells, and lei. Seventy-three entries were received this year from all over Mayor's Holly Award Occupational Therapy Art Class at the Adult Wreath Category Judges' Choice Muriel Miura Judges' Choice Marshall K.
