Culture and Arts production grants available
Honolulu − A press release was sent out on August 1, 2013 regarding grants that are being offered from The Mayor’s Office of Culture and the Arts (MOCA). Two grants are available for cultural and arts organizations seeking support for newly developed artistic works or the preservation of cultural heritage through artistic works, and to provide continuing support for projects.
MOCA is requesting proposals for the Mayor’s Production Grants Level I and Level II. The Level I grant will assist organizations to develop new art projects in the fields of dance, theater, music, short film, and literature (to include language). The Level II grant provides continued support for on-going works which had previously received MOCA grant awards between Fiscal Year 2008 and 2013. Mayor’s Production Grant awards can be up to $5,000.
The grants will be awarded to organizations located in the City and County of Honolulu for projects benefiting Oahu residents. Grant support is intended to provide partial funding for a project. Grants are limited and highly competitive, but we encourage all qualified groups and individuals to apply. The deadline for both Level I and II grants is Friday, November 1, 2013 at 4:30 p.m. Proposals may be submitted to the MOCA office at 550 South King Street, Room 201.
Organizations may apply for Level I and II if eligible, but only one grant will be awarded per organization. To be eligible for the grant, applicants must be a tax-exempt, publicly supported, and a charitable organization as determined by the Internal Revenue Service. Guidelines and applications are available through MOCA in the Mission Memorial Building, 550 South King Street, Room 201, and online at http://www1.honolulu.gov/moca/news.htm. For information, call (808) 768-6622.
