Organizations requesting use of park facilities outside of operational hours to be charged attendant/custodian fee beginning September 1st

The Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) announced today that effective September 1, 2013, organizations requesting use of DPR’s facilities during non-operational hours such as meeting rooms, gymnasiums, and swimming pools will be required to pay a $15/hour attendant/custodian fee as mandated by city ordinance.

Most parks facilities operate Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to noon and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Most are closed noon to 1 p.m. and all day on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.  However, operational hours vary and will be posted at the individual park facility or available on the city’s website.

Please contact the respective area park director to make arrangements.  Park users already holding permits for dates after September 1 will not be charged the attendant fee.

ROH Sec. 10-2.7 Fees for attendant/custodian services.

Organizations using city recreational facilities outside of the facility’s posted operational hours shall pay attendant/custodian service fees to the city of $15.00 per hour for a custodian or an attendant. For the purposes of this section, “posted operational hours” means the hours a recreational facility is open for use by the public as posted on a sign or other notice conspicuously posted at the facility or on a city website. Fees collected pursuant to this subsection shall be deposited into a special fund, established by the mayor and approved by the council, or into a special account of the general fund for the use of the department of parks and recreation for expenses relating to park services. No fees shall be collected unless a special account or special fund is established
